With an Attitude of Thanksgiving
Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it
with an attitude of thanksgiving (Col.4:2)
Thanksgiving
The attitude of thanksgiving is always evident in the Spirit-filled life. How would people describe your attitude? Do the people walking close to you sense that you are grateful? Or, do you grumble and complain about circumstances and problems?
The attitude of thanksgiving is not a plastic smile that naively pretends that everything is fine. Nor, is it a feeling of gladness during difficult circumstances. Thanksgiving is an attitude that:
· looks back to how God demonstrated His love toward us when Christ died for our sins.
· looks inside to know the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, knowing the He will never leave us or forsake us.
· looks forward to believe that God is working all things together for our good and His glory.
Our thanksgiving is based solidly on Gods character and what He has done for us and said to us! We are thankful for:
· His payment and pardon for our sin;
· our privileges as children of God;
· His presence;
· His promises;
· His purpose for us and for His church
He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? (Rom 8:32)
But thanks be to God, Who always leads us in triumph in Christ
(2 Cor. 2:14)
.
Father,
Forgive me for focusing on circumstances and problems that I cannot change. Thank You for forgiving my sin and giving me the privilege of calling You Father. When I look back at the evidence of Your love, I look forward, believing that You will meet my every need. Let my thankful heart be a testimony to Your goodness.
In Jesus Name, Amen
